What's On at SAM?
Well, usually quite a lot - it all depends when you come along to join!
Our syllabus contains a brief run-down of what's coming at SAM. But there's so much more happening than just the meetings.
During the Summer break, the committee have been busy planning the Syllabus. At SAM, we're fortunate enough that we are able to attract some of the more well-known amateur film-makers. This year is no exception!

As most members know, we try to attract the best film-makers from all over Europe - and these meetings are not to be missed!

Here at SAM, we hope you'll find out so much more than just what the manual for your camcorder has to offer! Making films is a fascinating hobby and we aim to make the most of it by bringing the best amateur films and film-makers to the club to view and be entertained by - as well as the knowledge that's been built up over the years - you too can make films that your friends and family will watch again and again!
You don't have to be an expert to join SAM - just the enthuasism to join in.- You don't even need a camcorder at first. If you only want to find out what it's all about - come along and find out!

Competitions
Just some brief details about each of our compeitions.
The Strathclyde Event - An inter-club competition, only open to associated Clubs of SAM
The Five Minute Competition - this can be a tough competition, and your film MUST be less than FIVE minutes. Only open to individual members and associated clubs.
The Members Competition - the MAIN competition! Open to ALL Members and Associated Clubs only.
Our NEW competition - First Awards. This new competition is open to ANY member of ANY Associated Club who has not won ANY prize before - anywhere. So if you know of anyone who fits the bill? Get them to apply!

Newsletters
We know that not everyone can make it along to our meetings or even has the internet (unbelivable, we know!) and to keep ALL our members informed of what's going on at SAM we produce a regular printed Newsletter.
It covers meeting reports, advance notices of competitions and application forms etc.
And the best news of ALL - it's FREE with your Membership Subscription!!

Film Library
Many of the Films shown at our competitons are available for hire.
Over the years, the SAM Film Library has grown to include many films that have been entered in our competitions.
Many of these were originally on all different formats and are being transferred to mini-dv which is best suited for Club Presentations.
However, we are indebted to Norman Speirs who has put a lot of hours and hard work into copying them onto DVD so that Clubs and Members (especially those that are housebound) can still still the entries to competitions etc.
